u.s. flag Richard Haven Cummings, age 95, passed away on April 10 at his home in Hanover of a broken heart only 5 weeks after his beloved wife Nancy.

Richard, known to all as Dick, was born in Woburn, Massachusetts to Eustace Haven Cummings and Eleanor Houston Ray Cummings on January 19, 1929. After his family moved to Lebanon, NH he graduated from Kimball Union Academy, attended Norwich University, and Pratt Institute in New York City. He joined the US Army in July 1951 and saw combat in the Korean War.

Dick returned to Lebanon and joined his father as the 7th generation in E. Cummings Leather Co. In 1977 he became the Economic Development Agent for the northern three counties in New Hampshire.

Dick and Nancy were married on September 18, 1954 and raised their family in Hanover. He was a Weblo scout leader; sat on the NH Labor Relations Board; served as the Chairman of YMCA Camp Coniston and a member of the state of NH YMCA Camping Association. He was an active member of the state Republican party, the local Elks Club & VFW.

In his spare time he spent time at his fishing camp, Mackawee, loved attending Dartmouth football and hockey games. He followed his children's sporting events all around New England and later in life he and Nancy faithfully followed their grandchildren's sporting events. Although his favorite place to be was at their Newfound Lake Cottage, he also traveled the world visiting his children in Germany, The Netherlands, England, Florida & California, and had a special love of Ogunquit Beach in Maine.

He is predeceased by his brothers Eustace William Cummings and Donald Edward Cummings.

He is survived by his daughter Eleanor Lake Cummings Bowe (Gerald Bowe) of Bridgewater; Richard Farwell Cummings of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Andrea Sutton Cummings Charron (William Charron) of Manchester. Grandchildren Stephanie Bowe Ullman (Adam Ullman) of Menlo Park, CA; Gretchen Bowe Tornabene (Stephen Tornabene) of Davis, CA; Ashley Charron Mazurier (Luc Mazurier) of Manchester and Zachary Charron of Manchester. Great grandchildren Grant & Vivienne Ullman; Graham, Ross, & William Tornabene; and Magnus Mazurier; and seven nieces & nephews.
