Dorothy Wyman Mori passed away on September 21, 2024. She had recently celebrated her 93rd birthday. She will be forever remembered for her kind smile, her selfless service to others, her style, grace and gentle demeanor.
Dorothy was born to Murray Wyman and Dorothy (Duncklee) Wyman in Boston, Massachusetts, on September 4, 1931. She graduated from Newton High School in 1949 and went on to study nursing at Mary Hitchcock Nursing School in Hanover, New Hampshire. It was there she met the love of her life, Albert H. Mori, who graduated from Dartmouth College in 1951. The two married on July 4, 1953 and had three children, Stephen, Nina and Ruth. The couple raised their family in Manhasset on Long Island, New York. During this time Albert worked for the Rockefeller family in Manhattan and Dorothy served as beloved school nurse at Manhasset High School.
Albert and Dorothy retired to Hanover, New Hampshire in 1984 and reconnected with many friends from their Dartmouth days. They loved traveling to Italy and Portugal and spent many winters in Naples, Florida. They enjoyed Dartmouth football games, playing tennis and were active members of the Hanover community.
An avid reader, Dorothy belonged to her neighborhood book club in Quail Hollow where she lived in recent years. She loved animals and raised a number of family dogs, in later years enjoying long walks with her short dachshunds. She loved watching birds outside her kitchen window and couldn't wait for the bears to go into hibernation so she could put her feeders out. She was a devoted grandmother, affectionately known as Amie. Her first grandchild Christina was born on her 50th birthday and she eventually became grandmother to five and great-grandmother to six.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Albert in 1998, her daughter Ruth Page (Mori) Morgan in 2014 and son Stephen Mori in 2022. She is survived by her daughter Nina Mori Gorini, her granddaughters Christina (Finigan) Nihan, Holly Ruth Finigan and Sanna (Finigan) McAuliffe, two grandsons Alberto and Giorgio Gorini, her sisters Mary Paveglio and Deborah Gosser and many loving great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
