Dear Ann, Heidi and Heather,
I am sorry to hear about Pete's passing. I knew him first as Dr. Henderson who operated on my back when I was sixteen. Then I was lucky enough to work with him in Skowhegan in the OR. What a treat to be around, and I have recounted stories of his humor and talent many times. He was a gem and I'm sure you will be comforted by many happy memories. Anita

Dear Anne,
Please accept my sincere condolences.
Working with him at the hospital was a joy, but most of all, I am forever grateful for his insistance for me to have back surgery in Boston. Because of his care, I have happily had a happy and successful life. Sending my thoughts and prayers for comfort to you and your family.

Dear Ann & Family,
We are sorry to hear about Pete's passing. We both had the pleasure of working with him for many years at the RFGH. He always had a smile and a joke. He will be missed. Our condolences to your entire family.

I was a local logger from Highland Plantation when I got a chainsaw cut on my hand. The ER Doc. Took one look and called for Dr. Henderson who was hunting in woods not far away . He said he could repair the tendon in my index finger, and it would mean a night in the Redington Fairview. I wondered if I would be able to pay with no insurance and living paycheck to paycheck. He said, if I could stand it, he could do the surgery right then. He stitched the tendon sitting in his hunting clothes, explaining each step as he went. I was unable to work for quite some time and my employer didn’t have workman’s comp. When he grasped the situation he cut the bill in half and allowed me to pay it over time. Much later I met him at a dock at Pierce Pond where I was a guide. He remembered immediately and asked how my finger was. My finger works perfectly, even in my advanced age. I will never forget his kindness and generosity. Though we hardly knew each other he made a permanent impression on my life.

While saddened to learn of his passing, I am so happy to know that he continued the same amazing adventure and hobby packed life that he had when he ordered and gazed at numerous X-rays at RFGH. I worked in the X-ray darkroom there and pushed many a film he had ordered through the not always trusty X-ray developing equipment.
You were blessed to have such a calm, gentle, wise man in your lives.
May memories be a blessing to all.

Dear Ann and family,
We are saddened to hear of Dr. Henderson’s passing. You both were such wonderful neighbors to Egide and I through the years we were privileged to live across the street. We remember you both fondly.

Pete old buddy, I'll miss your tall tales at the dinner table on the St Paul's River camps. Maybe now I can reveal that I always thought that Ann was a better person with the fly rod.

Well, Pete... You probably did not know it, but you set a mark for excellent and compassionate ortho care that will never be reached. It was always good to work with you, even though I was one of the ER guys who called you in to RFGH at night. We all have plenty of "Pete stories", which we'll save as great memories of you. Sorry you are now gone, but it was my honor to have known you.

Pete was a great colleague. Reading about his life prior to his career in Maine was a pleasant eyeopener to that life. The amazing work he and Ann did their home down the Back Road from us was magical. He was missed.

He recruited me to join him on his favorite Atlantic Salmon
river and addicted me to the sport. Great memories!

Ann, I am so very sorry to learn of your sweet Pete's passing. I'm glad our paths crossed at the Dartmouth hockey rink. I could tell what a wonderful person Pete was
by the way he treated others... even the ticket takers! Pete definitely had a sparkle in his eye. I know we will miss him at the rink, but not nearly as much as his family and friends will miss him. Take good care of yourself, Ann. I hope to see you back at the rink this winter.
fondly, Theresa
