For Barbara's Family - Barbara and I became friends when I worked at the Dartmouth Bookstore. We talked of art and history and her life here in NH. We also talked of our mutual fight against depression. I was always amazed at her resilience; her ability to live alone when so unhappy. I hadn't seen her for two years--we ran into each other in one of Hanover's parking lots; she was with a grandson and he might remember. I've been missing her and was thinking of her last week when the obituary ran. I believe she was an intelligent and kind woman who desired love and attention in her life. I was unable to fill that role but when we saw each other we were genuinely happy and I did my best to give her the attention and caring that she needed. I will miss her, as will another friend from the bookstore, Terry Walz. We were her contacts and people she could count on when she was in town. I had no idea she had been ill. I wish you fond memories and a lot of laughs; she would have wanted that. How lucky you were to have had her in your lives. My thoughts are with you. Sincerely,
Laura Lichiello (That Little Spot of Red, Hanover, NH)

I knew Barbara for many years, we shared a love for NYC, and she especially loved to hear about my son and my daughter. I had lost contact with her in the past couple of years but thought of her often. I know that she is very happy where she is now and will finally have a smile on her face (one that she deserves to have). I will miss the little notes that she used to send me for my birthday. Good Bye dear friend. Pleasant travels.
Phyllis (Bradford, VT)
