Dear Elaine and girls,
Seems silly to say girls, but our daughters seem to stay girls! You have one wonderful family that I witnessed in action at the church supper last fall. We were hoping to sit with Don, and did in a spiritual sense. I'm sure his essence will remain in that church setting for ever. We can rest assurred about that. One of my happier moments around Don was when he brought his minister to say Grace at a '55 Reunion a few years back as I knew he had turned an important corner. Blessings to you. I'll see you Wednesday..

Elaine,Kim, Dina and Marcie,
I want you all to know how much your Dad made all better people. The laughs, the stern looks and yes, the walks to the wood shed when needed. He will be dearly missed. He was like the father I never had and I am so pleased I got to tell him that just a week ago. I am so sorry for your loss. Your family and large group of friends will be by your side. They will help you thru this.
Again, I am so sorry, I will sure miss Don.

Elaine and girls
I was so sorry to hear of Don's passing.
His humor is legend as well as his infectious laugh. I remember our shenanigans in high school with great glee! I will miss his greeting to me "Hey, Maaaaa-tin!" whenever we ran into each other.
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time.
Lea Ann (Martin) Munkittrick (Lake Wallace, Quebec)

To Elaine and all the family.
Fond memories working with Don at Hanover High School. Malcolm enjoyed meeting Don occasionally at the Etna General Store at lunch time. Your precious memories will now be your treasures. Our sincere condolences.
Alice and Malcolm Stevens (New Port Richey, Florida)

Dear Elaine and Family:
I was truly saddened to learn of Don's passing on my return home from an acute illness of my own. It was my pleasure to be involved with his care over the past six years. I always admired his courage and positive attitude through what undoubtedly were daily struggles.
My sincere sympathies to you, your children and other family at this difficult time.
Edward Catherwood, MD (Norwich, VT)

My sincere condolences to all of you, Donnie's family. Way back, way back, when we were all kids at Norwich Grammar School and then students at HHS, I remember the family. Please know the thoughts of the local "old-timers" like myself are with you all.

Elaine and family:
Our heart felt condolences go out to you all. We will miss seeing Don around town - the twinkle in his eye when he was telling a joke - his smile - his good humor. Good friends are special and Don was a "one of a kind" special friend.
Chet & Sherry Pressey (Etna, NH)

Elaine, Kim, Dina and Marci, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Don. I wish I had made it to the house to see him before he passed. I have sooo many memories of happy times spent with all of you at the house. Don was always there to make me laugh and I will never forget the many, many meals we shared with your family. Don was one of the people who made me feel so welcome when I first came to this area and never thought of me as an outsider, I will always remember him for that. He will be missed by me and Charlie (Charlie-Bob to him).
Tracy Flynn-Scott and Charlie Scott (Hanover, NH)

Donny's mischievousness and cheerful personality never seemed to leave him despite his longstanding medical problems. His optimism was infectious and you always knew there was a good story coming when you were in his company. His Hanover High School Classmates will miss him greatly. We are proud of his many accomplishments and grateful to have had him for a friend for these many years.
We send our deepest condolence to Elaine and the family.
Andy Packard (Bar Mills, Maine)

My condolences to the entire family. I always looked forward to coming back to work after a Norford meeting. Don would sit at my desk and may leave me a little note, or hide my name plate. He always had a joke to tell and he'll be missed by everyone.
Bonnie Philbrick (Lebanon, NH)

BEN AND MARGIE SHERMAN (HOOKSETT, NY)

Mrs. Hawthorne, Kim, Dina and Marci, I have never been able to say to someone, "I know how you feel". In the most heart wrenching way, I know how you feel. Our families have been friends for 45 years and time and distance has come between us, but I will always have a special place in my heart for your family. Somewhere in heaven your Dad and my Dad are watching over all their "girls". I am so sorry for your loss, I know how much it hurts.
