Clifford “Ted” H. Harris

Clifford “Ted” H. Harris died on February 8, 2010 at his home at Wheelock Terrace in Hanover, New Hampshire.

Ted was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on April 8, 1924 to Clifford and Eva Harris. He was a 1941 graduate of Winchester High School. After attending Hebron Academy for one year, Ted enlisted in the United States Air Force on September 20, 1942 at the age of eighteen. He served in the 100 th Bomber Group during World War II.

Ted married Betty Ann Connor on July 8, 1949 who he remained married and devoted to until her death in 2007.

In 1950 Ted joined American Airlines as a pilot; however he served his country once again in the Korean War. Following the Korean War, Ted returned to American Airlines where he remained a loyal employee until his retirement on April 3, 1984. Ted also served in both the Air Force Reserves and the Air National Guard until he finally was honorably discharged in 1966. He served his country with pride with an honorable rank of Major.

Ted was known by all as a lover of skiing, flying, and windsurfing. Ted could out ski just about anyone including all of his children and grandchildren. He served as a volunteer track official for Dartmouth College for a number of years after his retirement.

Ted is survived by his son Michael Harris of Hanover, NH, his two daughters, Linda Cooper of Londonderry, NH and Debbie Sullivan of Ipswich, MA and their families. His family has asked that donations be made in his name to Hospice of Vermont and New Hampshire, 66 Benning St., Suite 6, West Lebanon, NH 03784.

Visiting hours will be from 4:30 to 6:30 PM at the Rand-Wilson Funeral Home, School Street, Hanover, NH on Thursday, February 11, 2010. A private burial service will be held at the Wildwood Cemetery in Winchester, Massachusetts.
