Gentlefolks,
I worked for the Almuni Fund in the early 1960s. Nancy was a friend and very helpful in helping me to learn and understand 'how things were done'. I left Dartmouth at the end of 1967, but have visited with Nancy when I returned. Last April we went out to lunch and then later that month she joined me at my sister's (Sylvia Paxton) home in Orford for dinner. Nancy always had a 'sharp remark' coupled with a smile. I was honored to know and enjoy her advice.

I miss seeing Nancy as a volunteer at DHMC. I always enjoyed seeing her "outside of work" at the UNH-Dartmouth Football & Hockey games. I'm an alumna of UNH and have a bear with a UNH sweater that Nancy knitted for me - I think it is the only UNH sweater she ever agreed to make (or one of only a few of the "rival" team she consented to). She was a wonderful lady & will be greatly missed.

For the 25 years I had the great pleasure of knowing Nancy, she was a wonderful client and friend. Her thoughtfulness and spirit was truly unmatched. Who else would knit sweaters for her financial advisor and family? ! We will miss her very much.

Nancy was great! She was so courageous that we saw her just a few days before she died, doing her errands in downtown Hanover. We'll miss her presence at the men's ice hockey games and meeting her in Smoyer Lounge. Most of all, we'll remember Nancy for giving our dog, Cohiba, a weekend summer home, where she made friends with all the neighbors.

Nancy and her friend, Marjorie Boley, visited Cornwall, England, as part of our Church invitation in June 1997 and both stayed as our house guests for a week. During that time we took them on tours, showing them the beautiful scenery in Cornwall. Nancy took lots of photographs and on one sunny day she was looking across the bay at Padstow, an old fishing port and was so overcome with the view, she said, "What a wonderful Kodak day". We had never heard that expression before nor since, but it was her way of expressing the perfect colours and scenery for a photograph. We became good friends and were very sorry when the time came to say goodbye. Nancy kept in touch every Christmas and sent all the past year's news with her card. Fortunately, Marjorie is still with us and we keep in touch with her. We will miss Nancy's dry humour and wit, together with all the stories she told us about her life back home.
