Jane, Rob and Curtis,
We are so sorry to hear of your mom/grandmother's passing. She was a wonderful, caring person.
She also a great quick wit as well as words of wisdom.
I'm sure you have many, many good memories to comfort you.
My sympathy to you all.

Mary was the most admirable woman I have met in my political life. She taught me preserverance, courage, hope and kindness. My thanks to the family for sharing her with us all. My prayers and thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

It was extremely saddening to hear of West Virginia's greatest gift to New Hampshire's death. I came to the legislature the same year Mary did and served with her for three terms. Her passion for the poor and disenfranchised was unsurpassed. She understood people who will never hold public office, attain celebrity or garner wealth. She knew education was the key to both individual and societal success. Her death leaves a substantial void in a contentious, shrill and often superficial political world. She was none of those things; it was about substance and achievement. You will be missed.
