Steve and Janice,
Our heartfelt condolences go out to you at this sad time. Bert and I pray for your grief to be softened by your wonderful and loving memories of your mother. Stay close to one another as a comfort in the days ahead. Love, Bert and Jeanie

Hello Janice and Steve: What wonderful parents you had and how lucky the Crowes were to know them and work with them. We too are Springfield and DCAD people and they have been a large part of our lives. We've missed Whitey terribly and now Joanne will be missed just a much. Not many people will make their mark on other's lives as Whitey and Joanne did!
Please accept our sympathy.
Barbara and George Crowe (Enfield, New Hampshire)

Fred and Mary, Janice and Steve: You are in our thoughts and hearts as you face the loss of a wonderful Mother. Joanne did indeed have nine lives and she lived each one to the fullest. Those of us who knew her were enriched by her ready smile, her great interest in everyone around her, her ability to make each of us feel happier because of her interest in each of us. We join you in missing her and hope that as the days and weeks go by you too will think of all she gave each one of us.
Lu and Peter Martin (Orford, N.H.)

Janice, Fred and family,

The best description of your mother and grandmother was "special"! Even at the age of 6, I can remember her wedding day to Whitey -a happy and beautiful bride and groom. Our wonderful family gatherings will always be part of our memories and a comfort to us for "Those we love can never be, more than a thought apart, for as long as there's a memory, they live on in our hearts.".
Our thoughts, prayers and love are with you,
Carol Ann and Don Pietruszka (Apopka, Florida)

Janice and Steve,
On behalf of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, let me express our heartfelt condolences on your mother's passing. She was truly one of the matriarchs of the NSCAA family and we will miss her dearly. May you find comfort at this difficult time in knowing that she is together again with your father for eternity.
Steve Veal, NSCAA Associate Executive Director (Kansas City, KS)

Dear Janice and Steve,
Your mother was so thoughtful. I have a collection of cards from her celebrating Dartmouth Women's Basketball milestones. Last year when we won the Ivies, the card she sent simply said "Whitey would be so proud."
I am so blessed that your parents were a part of my life both here at Dartmouth and at Springfield. I will keep you and your families in my thoughts and prayers.

Your mom was simply the best. I remember her watching some of our late practices while waiting for YT. I,remember her at games quietly cheering us on. Over the years I quietly admired their relationship. Their was a mutual admiration society. She was a rock, exuding an inner toughness, never giving up. She had a sense of humor that somehow one would not expect. When I think of Burnham Field, it is just named for Yt, but for Yt and Joanne: for they were one in so many ways. What memories you have!!!

I was managing the Dartmouth Soccer team as a Junior when Joanne and Whitey arrived in Hanover to take over for beloved Coach Tom Dent in 1960. I was always impressed by Joanne's quiet but determined support for Whitey and the team. As a couple they went on to become a legend in their own right, giving so much to Dartmouth, the Hanover Community, and the growth of soccer in America. They were great role models for all of us. My heartfelt condolences to everyone affected by their love.

I played for Whitey for all of my college career--class of '64. I have many fond memories of Whitey as a coach and mentor. Memories are a good thing!
